THE CONCEPT

ROOTED IN THE ARCHITECTURAL LEGACY OF THE GRAN HOTEL BOLÍVAR, THE PROJECT REINTERPRETS THE TIMELESS ELEGANCE OF THE CLASSIC CAFÉ THROUGH A CONTEMPORARY DESIGN LANGUAGE. LOCATED IN LIMA’S HISTORIC CENTRE, OVERLOOKING PLAZA SAN MARTÍN, THE CONCEPT ESTABLISHES A DIALOGUE BETWEEN HERITAGE AND MODERNITY, TRANSLATING CLASSICAL REFERENCES INTO A REFINED ARCHITECTURAL EXPRESSION. THE RESULT IS AN INTIMATE AND INVITING URBAN DESTINATION THAT CELEBRATES ITS HISTORIC IDENTITY WHILE EMBRACING THE VIBRANT ENERGY OF THE CITY.

THE CHALLENGE

THE MAIN CHALLENGE WAS TO TRANSFORM A HISTORIC CAFÉ INTO A CONTEMPORARY HOSPITALITY SPACE WHILE PRESERVING ITS DISTINCTIVE CHARACTER AND CONNECTION TO THE CITY.

The project required a careful balance between heritage preservation, spatial efficiency, and contemporary hospitality needs. Within a compact footprint, the challenge was to reorganize circulation, integrate a prominent pastry display and service counter, and create comfortable seating areas without compromising the openness of the space. Maintaining a natural connection between the interior, outdoor terrace, and Plaza San Martín was essential to preserving the café’s urban identity while accommodating a renewed guest experience.

THE RESULT

A SEAMLESS CONNECTION BETWEEN THE HOTEL AND THE CITY, WHERE ARCHITECTURE, MATERIALITY, AND CONTEMPORARY HOSPITALITY COME TOGETHER.

The design establishes a natural connection between the café’s interior, its outdoor terrace, and Plaza San Martín, creating an inviting extension of the historic hotel into the city. A sculptural bar and an expansive pastry display define the spatial composition, combining functionality with architectural elegance. Rich materials, bespoke furnishings, and carefully integrated lighting create a refined and cohesive atmosphere. Natural daylight enhances the textures throughout the day, while warmer lighting introduces a more intimate ambiance in the evening. The result is a sophisticated and timeless café experience, deeply connected to its historic surroundings.

THE DETAILS

EVERY DETAIL REFLECTS A THOUGHTFUL BALANCE OF CRAFTSMANSHIP, MATERIALITY, AND ARCHITECTURAL PRECISION. RICHLY VEINED MARBLE, INTRICATE WOOD PANELING, REFINED METALLIC ACCENTS, AND BESPOKE FURNISHINGS CREATE A DISTINCTIVE VISUAL IDENTITY. CAREFULLY INTEGRATED LIGHTING ENHANCES THE NATURAL BEAUTY OF EACH MATERIAL, WHILE SUBTLE DECORATIVE ELEMENTS INTRODUCE WARMTH AND SOPHISTICATION. TOGETHER, THESE DETAILS ELEVATE THE CAFÉ EXPERIENCE, EXPRESSING ISOMETRIKA’S COMMITMENT TO TIMELESS DESIGN AND EXCEPTIONAL QUALITY.
